Angelos Polychronou was born in Athens and started his musical studies with classical piano and music theory at an early age. He studied at the Experimental Music High School of Pallini in the traditional music pathway, studying the musical instruments of the Eastern Mediterranean (saz, oud, a.o.) and the Byzantine music theory. At the age of 17 he chose percussion as his main instrument under professor Vangelis Karipis. He has traveled in Africa and Brazil where he took part in percussion dance seminars enriching his knowledge cultures of rhythm. He lives and works in Athens as a professional musician. He is a samba and samba-afro tutor and a founding member of QUILOMBO (www.quilombo.gr). Currently he performs with groups and artists as: Banda Valeu, Quilombo, Delos Project, Grupo Inle, Alkinoos Ioannidis, while in the past he had worked with Mode Plagal, Eleusis, Sphere Project, Furiosa Band (Berlin), Brazz, Afrolab, Kostas Pavlidis, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Tanya Tsanaklidou Dionysis Savopoulos, a.o.
